How age is calculated

The calculator finds the difference between your birth date and today using your browser's native date engine. It counts full years (each 365 days, with a leap day added every 4 years), then full months (28–31 days), then the remainingdays. Total days, weeks, hours, minutes and seconds are computed from the exact timestamp difference, so leap years and month lengths are handled precisely.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate my exact age?+

Enter your date of birth and the calculator shows your age in years, months, and days — plus your total age in days, weeks, hours, and even minutes and seconds. It accounts for leap years and month lengths automatically.

How is age calculated in years, months and days?+

The calculator counts full years first, then full months remaining, then days. For example, someone born on March 15, 2000, on May 20, 2026, is 26 years, 2 months, and 5 days old. Because months have different lengths, the day count is calculated against your birth day-of-month.

Does the age calculator handle leap year birthdays?+

Yes. If you were born on February 29 (a leap day), the calculator treats February 28 as your birthday in non-leap years — the standard convention used by most official systems and courts.

What is my age in days?+

The calculator multiplies each full year by 365.25 days to account for leap years, then adds the remaining days. The 'total days' figure is your exact age in days from your birth date to today, including all leap days in between.

Can I calculate the age difference between two people?+

Enter one person's birth date to see their age, then do the same for the other person and compare. For a precise gap, use our Date Calculator with both birth dates to get the exact days between them.

What's the difference between chronological and corrected age?+

Chronological age is the time since your actual birth date. Corrected (or adjusted) age is used for premature babies and is calculated from their due date rather than birth date. This calculator gives chronological age — for corrected age, subtract the number of weeks the baby was premature.
